Christa Badoni. The low light of the setting sun sifted through the autumn trees, fall colors all around. She had asked me to capture some photographs for her mission. I clicked away into the last moments of light.

Here's some views from the summit. Honestly, I was completely hash-whacked. I failed to eat enough, I failed to tally than one hour of sleep on the cramped ride over, I failed to move any speed greater than ridiculously slow; the only thing I succeeded at is getting to the top. And thats the only thing that matters. Especially when you've got views like this.

The above is one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken. The dark qualities of the trees, the glistening ground cover. The mountains in the distance, the people nearer. It takes me somewhere else.

We walked along the trail, and Tyler spotted a moose about thirty feet in front of us, a bull with very large antlers. A cow started of towards our left. For a moment we thought they were going to pull a Jurassic Park velociraptor on us. We retreated. Until a boy scout troop came prancing along, bumbling forward disregarding our warnings.

Well enough. The moose didn't charge and we managed to make some photographs.

Table Rock

Table Rock. I've heard word ever since my early days hear in Rexburg. The classic hike of the area. We finally did it. Almost went last week. Cancelled. This week we expedited. Journeyed. And it was grand.

We hiked along the huckleberry; the path wove through quaking aspen, along a valley, deeper into the woods. Eventually we spotted a towering peak which we thought must be Table Rock. It wasn't. We spotted another one that seemed even higher and unsurmountable.  Wasn't that one either. Finally, after we came out on top of a ridge, we realized it was a large butte in the distance, one which we had not even considered. That one we climbed, hiked, and summated. Some in our group worried they would not reach the top– all did. The path of life often takes us to greater heights than we had ever conceived.

We partook of barbecue out back, on the shady side of the shed, opposite the rabbits. The food was good; the rabbits were fluffy. Then we jumped off of bridges. I didn't jump that day, but I had a good float.

 I love this trombone.

Rexburg locals and local silos. Are we human or are we silos? "Silo" is a no-no word on campus these days. Rumour has it that President Clark discussed the negative effects of "silos" on campus. They say he noted that sometimes departments act unilaterally and therefore become silos, or that individuals remain detached from their peers void of essential communication that allows them to perform virtuous acts. Humans or Silos?

Not saying anything about the fine stranger children in the photo in particular of course.

Fourth of July

Fourth of July. Yes, I captured these photographs sometime ago; I've said it once and I'll say it again, sometimes I hoard pictures. That' right. This was the first time I pulled out my Nikkormatt for about one year. For some reason I always want to photograph the Fourth.

This is my brother, Greg. Taken in Snow Canyon, outside of the lava caves.
